Champion International Corp. is scheduled to undertake a 10-day modernization shutdown in January 2000 to rebuild uncoated free-sheet PM No. 5 at its Mogi Guacu mill in Brazil as part of a $49 million investment. The rebuild includes a new headbox and Speedsizer from the Voith Sulzer, as well as a new steambox. The PM is due to be revamped at the end of 1999, but plans are stalled by delayed equipment deliveries.
