摘要：
Strategic Laser Communications is a joint Navy-DARPA technology development program. The program is structured around two conceptual systems which use blue-green lasers to communicate with submerged submarines. One concept uses a laser in space; the second an earth-based laser reflected from orbiting mirrors. The technical issues associated with these systems are discussed, and prospects assessed.
