Application of PC-based data acquisition and analysis system in mechanical fault diagnosis

A PC-based data acquisition and analysis system has been successfully developed and applied to mechanical fault diagnosis. This paper presents hardware and software requirements for the system. Two application of this PC-based system were introduced in rolling-element bearing fault diagnosis on diesel locomotive and large rotating machinery fault diagnosis in power plant. This system has been successfully used in field tests to diagnose abnormal shaft vibration caused by machinery unbalance, misalignment, rubbing of steam turbine generator in power plant.
