摘要
More than twenty years ago, a paper which included some aerodynamic wind tunnel data on certain bluff body shapes considered as representing the shape of ice-laden conductors or wires was published. Although more than 10 shapes were tested in a wind tunnel, only 4 sets of aerodynamic data were reported. Such data enables structural engineers to calculate the resultant aerodynamic loads and moments on certain structural members, and thus leads to a more rational design for the member. In this note, an additional set of data is compiled for four more bluff shapes which also represent ice-laden conductors or circular members, and are subject to wind loading and twisting. One of the shapes is the classic square shape, MODEL 9, studied extensively by many other researchers. Another shape is the slightly out-of-round cylinder, MODEL 8, which represents a light ice coating. Still another is a blunt-nose shape, MODEL 7, and the fourth, MODEL 10, is a half-rough cylinder.
