LUBRICATION AND FILTRATION: A DIESEL ENGINE MANUFACTURER'S VIEW.

As part of a program of research to reduce maintenance costs of diesel and gasoline engines, Perkins have made a critical appraisal of oil consumption, including filter change periods. This has raised a number of questions such as: How long should filters be effective, and what effects on filter performance and construction can be expected from modern high performance oils and synthetic lubricants? The results of Perkins' research and their implications for filter manufacturers are discussed.
