摘要
The expenditure on the necessity infrastructure (access roads, electric power lines) is a major element in the cost of low-power television rebroadcast transmitters such as are needed in cascaded extensions to the networks. The possibility of using alternative power supplies such as solar energy offers a greater degree of freedom in selecting the site for the transmitting station. At the same time it enables the overall cost of providing the service to be reduced considerably, through the use of new installation-design techniques. It is shown, using an example, how these principles can be applied to determine, with a computer, the position and the characteristics of a rebroadcast station such that the overall expenditure is reduced to a minimum.
