LIME FGD SYSTEMS DATA BOOK.

This book is a guidelines manual which constitutes a stand-alone document that highlights the design and operating parameters of lime-based SO//2 scrubbing systems. The manual was prepared in such a way as to permit easy retrieval of information for use by utility engineers in the design, specifications, installation and operation of lime slurry flue gas desulfulrization (FDG) systems. The information presented here represents the results of recent research efforts by EPRI and the US Environemntal Protection Agency, as well as collective experience of the utility industry and the process and equipment suppliers. The objective of the Lime FGD Systems Data Book is to provide the utility industry with 1) detailed guidelines about design features, equipment specifications and selection criteria of lime scrubbers, and 2) specific procedures to determine which system design parameters are critical in confidently selecting a lime slurry system. In addition, the Data Book describes the process chemistry involved in lime scrubbing and highlights the interrelationship of process chemistry with the proper selection of system components. The described lime-based scrubbing process should be integrated into any utility boiler systems using sulfur-containing fuels.
