摘要
This paper presents two theorems which can be used to establish limits on the total heat transfer that can take place in certain heat-conduction problems, thereby obviating the need for tedious or complicated calculations. The first of these theorems has often been used intuitively by practitioners of heat transfer engineering. A formal proof is given. The second theorem, perhaps more useful than the first, is not generally known.
