摘要
Cast structures with finely dispersed lamellar pearlite and vermicular graphite with interdendritic lamellar graphite have the best wear resistance. Hardening and tempering do not improve wear resistance of piston rings since the structure formed is unstable under service conditions (after hardening) or it has reduced shear deformation resistance (after hardening and tempering). Oxidation, abrasive wear and seizing develop in relation to the original structure. The best wear resistance is with the oxidation mechanism of rubbing.
