DEVELOPMENT IN EQUIPMENT FOR UNDERGROUND COAL MINING IN GREAT BRITAIN.

The equipment now in use in the United Kingdom for the operations of heading, winning, coalgetting and transport are described with a view to outlining the general attributes of a variety of types of plant. Although detailed descriptions of individual manufacturers' machines were not possible within the limits of this paper, it is hoped that sufficient outline information is given to induce the reader to probe further into the detailed equipment specifications which the British Manufacturers of Mining Equipment are only too happy to provide.
