A laboratory study was carried out to investigate the stability of coarse single-sized (open graded) pavement aggregates constructed with and without an asphalt cement (AC) binder. The grain-size distribution of the open-graded drainage layers (OGDL) conformed to a specification used by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) at the time of study. The relative performance of OGDL layers in the study showed that under the given test conditions the accumulation of permanent deformation with number of load applications increased with AC content.
