A study was made of the friction characteristics (the state and dynamic friction forces, and the friction force instability) of the brush-collector unit of a dc micro-motor at low slip speeds. It was established that the ratio between the static and dynamic friction forces is most greatly affected by the friction surface roughness, the normal pressure and the microhardness of the brush material. With an increase in the slip rate the friction force instability decreases.
