摘要
The performance of low-light-level television (LLLTV) systems essentially depends on the visual snr. A simple procedure for calculating the performance of LLLTV equipment is presented. For illustration, a flow diagram is given, including a detailed calculation example. The basic detail-perceptibility formula is deduced, following the model of Rose and De Vries. The formula takes into account, as limiting quantities, photoemission noise of the first photocathode and video-preamplifier noise, in connection with certain properties of the human visual system and the optical transfer function of the equipment. A series of calculations and measurement results verifies the applicability of the theoretical model. A comparison of three types of pick-up tubes is included.
