摘要
A model for the fusion of MgO in electric arc furnace (EAF) was developed. The model is based on the analysis of the electric behaviour of the furnace circuit and on the first and second postulates of the thermodynamics. The model was validated with industrial scale experiments in an EAF of 10-ton capacity. The results show the increment in productivity as a function of speed of electrodes raising and the electrical work point as well as specific energy consumption related to the electric arc current to different speed of the electrodes. The results show the possibility to shift this process from art to a higher technological level. A method of operation for the EAF, which allows the increase in productivity of the furnace more than 20% and the increase in production in the plant for more than 70%, is presented.
