A problem of ecological safety of application of the cold-hardening sands (CHS) with the synthetic resins is discussed. An experience shows that the use of α-set process for cores of steel fitting castings makes it possible to produce the quality castings with the essential economical effect. A permissible emission by phenol and formaldehyde is within the normal range. The molds, made of CHS with the synthetic resins, are being used in place of sand molds to produce the quality castings of ferrous alloys. The spent sands (up to 95%) can be reused.
