摘要
The performance of laboratory rock cutters and field scale tunnel boring machines are normally measured by specific energy, cutting coefficient, and cutting force. These indicators can be supplemented or replaced by simpler indicators determined from the muck: these include size distribution, chip size and chip population. These muck properties can indicate important characteristics of the cutting operation, such as optimum and critical conditions, and specific energy. Paper discusses the application of these indicators to field operations.
