This Volume 1 summary investigates the potential residential, commercial, and industrial applications of heat recovery from refrigeration units and examines their effects on electric power utility companies. Assessed are the energy- and cost-savings potentials, the state of the art of the technology, various applications of heat recovery, and alternatives to heat recovery. Barriers to implementing heat recovery systems are examined along with approaches to removing these barriers. A methodology to address the potential of heat recovery on the electric utilities industry is presented.
