摘要
The bandwidth of the coplanar traveling-wave electroabsorption modulator (TW-EAM) was analyzed in the aspect of designing electrode. The calculation process of this method was introduced by demonstrating the design of a coplanar TW-EAM with its measured data. The demonstrating results agree with the experimental data. The effects of the width of intermediate electrode and the electrode interval on the bandwidth were analyzed. An example is introduced on that a GaAs/GaAlAs multiple quantum well TW-EAM with a large bandwidth was designed by this method.
