Correlation measurements of velocity profiles in a nonisothermal flow of a liquid metal in a tube

摘要
There is described a measurement method of local velocity in a turbulent flow with heat exchange that is based on registration of temperature fluctuations transfer by a flow using a sonde from two thermocouples and analysis of mutual correlation function of their signals. Measurement results of velocity profiles in the mercury flow in a tube are given including the presence of magnetic field. Satisfactory measurement accuracy in the flow kernel is pointed out. The described correlation method is promising because the most known methods lose their metrological reliability in velocity measurements in turbulent flows of liquid metals in the cases of intensive heat exchange, in strong magnetic fields and in the presence of other extremum conditions.
