PHONON SPECTRUM AND THERMODYNAMIC FUNCTIONS OF MAGNESIUM.

The anelastic coherent scattering of cold neutrons (E//O equals 4. 54 MeV, THETA equals 90 degree ) is determined from the time-of-flight on a spectrometer by the method of ″thick″ specimens and the phonon spectrum of polycrystalline magnesium recovered. The function is used to calculate the temperature dependence of the free and internal energies, specific heat, entropy, Debye point and standard dynamic atomic displacements.
