摘要
This paper describes nondestructive testing methods used at the Chevrolet Saginaw Manufacturing plant to predict the physical properties of sintered carbide cutting tools such as density, hardness, grain size and cobalt content. Coercive force and eddy current testing measurements were found to correlate best with these properties. Coercive force testing is currently being used as the main method for evaluating incoming shipments of sintered carbide cutting tools and has resulted in an improvement in quality and performance during production operations.
