An investigation was undertaken by adding milligram amounts of several organo- mercury compounds to 900- ml volumes of distilled water in a series of quart jars. Absorption effects of a number of organic solvents at the 253. 7- nm wavelength were investigated. Coeffieicnts of variation at different levels of mercury in distilled water were determined. Apparatus for flameless mercury determination is described.
