Research on both theory and treatment of rail corrugation yields a better understanding of corrugation mechanics and mitigation approaches. The Federal Transit Administration conducted a detailed survey of the transit industry to quantify and define corrugation occurrences. Presented in this article is a summary of the results of current corrugation research.
