摘要
Nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases from automobiles, boilers and furnaces for industrial use cause photochemical smog and are harmful to human health. Two new chemical reagents to remove NO//x from highly polluted ambient air have been developed. One of these is mainly composed of sodium chlorite (NAClO//2 ), and the other of potassium carbonate (K//2 CO//3 ). Both are especially prepared to form porous granules. Because they remove NO//x and SO//x by chemical reaction, they have great removal capacity. They work effectively in a wide temperature and humidity range (0 degree to 80 degree C, more than 20% RH), and in a wide concentration range (from 0. 02 up to 1000 ppm).
