摘要
The behavior of the telephone subscriber is discussed from the viewpoint of traffic theory. It has been recognized that the telephone subscriber and telephone network together form a superior system among whose individual parts an exchange of information and a number of interactions take place. The experience gained by studying these processes will be equally important to the development of new switching systems and the planning of telecommunication networks. Precise dimensioning of circuit groups and switching elements must allow for the traffic-increasing effect of call repetitions. A review of the relevant literature shows that in the past essential knowledge has already been gained about this special form of subscriber behavior. An attempt is made to give a coherent representation of the most important results and to apply them to practical design problems occurring in telephone networks.
