Computers, microprocessors, lasers, electronics and television images have become an integral part of nondestructive testing (NDT) inspection of jet engines. Some applications of these new technologies applied to quality inspections are presented. These include radiography and ultrasonics including real-time X-ray systems, CAT SCAN; surface inspection including fluorescent penetrant inspection and laser light raster scan; and holography.
