German Robot and Mounting Technology on the Rise.

The specialist association 'Mounting Manipulation: - Industrial Robots' (MHI) in VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau) represents a branch that has since grown to more than 120 manufacturers with a total of some 20,000 employees. The products of this branch - automatic machines, manipulators, industrial robots and sensors, as well as peripheral components and computer technology - represent vital units of the computer-integrated manufacturing firm. At an average export share of about 50% in 1985, and the growing need for flexible automation in many areas, turnover rates in the order of 3 and 4 billion DM for 1986 and 1990, respectively, are being forecast.
