摘要
A description is given of a vertical boring machine which is 60 ft high and is capable of processing a workpiece weighing 80 tons. The machine performs turning, boring, milling, grinding, trepanning, drilling, tapping and threading on all inside and outside horizontal and vertical surfaces. It operates under the three-axis contouring control of a Westinghouse New World 2500 series CNC, and features redundant readouts on all the axes.
