The single-channel AB-1 automatic biochemical analyzer is intended for determining the blood serum concentrations of glucose, total protein, total bilirubin, total cholesterol, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, and certain other substances. The moving base of the apparatus carries: a) a reagent preparation unit (RPU) which prepares the reaction mixtures for photometry; b) a mixing unit which directs a jet of air into the tubes containing the reaction mixture in order to mix it; c) the compressor, which creates the necessary vacuum in the pipes of the vacuum system of the analyzer; d) a measuring unit which determines the concentrations of the various substances in the solutions by measuring absorbed light in the region of the wavelengths 300-650 nm; e) a sample supply unit which moves the cassettes containing the samples and gives out the coded signals of the cassette number, the markings of the cassette, and the control; f) the power unit; g) the unit for conversion and transmission of information, which ensures that the outputs of the RPU and measuring unit match the transcriber and EUM-23 typewriter (of unitary construction with the transcriber, with which it forms the information-processing unit; h) the transcribers, which reads coded information about the address of the sample and the result of the measurement,, gives out this information to the typewriter, and controls its operation; i) the electrically controlled typewriter, the purpose of which is to print the address of the sample, including the serial number of the technique (two decimal digits) and the cassette number (two decimal digits), and also the result of the measurement (four decimal digits).
