ON THE SYNTHESIS OF TAPERED RC LINES IN THE FREQUENCY DOMAIN.

The tapered-line synthesis problem is converted to a general function minimization problem in Banach space, and an algorithm is derived to minimize the function by the steepest-descent method. It is shown that if one takes the Banach space L** infinity left bracket 0, 1 right bracket consisting of all bounded feasible functions and applies this algorithm, by choosing constants for the initial tapered function, an expression for the optimum step function of the tapered function can be obtained. Problems associated with application of the algorithm are discussed, and application examples are given.
