In today's ICT markets, usability - the user-friendliness and usefulness - of products and services plays an increasingly important role for competition. The success of innovation and service design, therefore, depends highly on the ability to meet customer needs and to understand the user behaviour. A possibility to realize such a strong customer focus is the involvement of the user perspective in the service development itself by implementing methods of user-centred design in the processes of innovation and service design. User-centred methods, including testing as well as other evaluation techniques, do not only improve the usability of products and services, but can also stimulate further innovations.
