In this paper results are given of laboratory studies and experimental tests of an electrostatic separation method for purifying quartz raw material from mineral impurities. For this, single-section drum electric separators in which an electrostatic field was created between a grounded rotating drum and a system of deflecting electrodes (8 pieces) were used. A negative voltage was placed on the electrodes through a divider in the range fom 5 to 30 kV. The material was charged before it was fed into the electrostatic field by rubbing cold or heated particles of quartz and minerals against the surface of the vibration trough.
