Described is a computer controlled hot metal transportation system which has been developed at the Kakogawa Works in order to integrate the blast furnace, steelmaking and torpedo car desulfurization processes. In this system, each process is connected through a data highway, which gives real-time information with regard to production and transportation. Based on this information, the movement of the torpedo cars, and the quantity and composition of the hot metal are fully controlled.
