RENEWAL OF HYPERBOLIC WAVE EXPRESSIONS.

The hyperbolic wave is an approximate expression of the theoretical solution of the cnoidal wave. Since the hyperbolic wave expression contains primary functions only, various wave characteristics of cnoidal waves can easily be computed for a given wave period, water depth and wave height. The expressions of the crest height, the phase velocity and the water particle velocity of hyperbolic waves are compared with the experimental data. As a result, it is found that, when the relative wave height is greater than 0. 3, the existing expression of hyperbolic waves cannot be used, but the new expression should be applied.
