ON THE UTILIZATION OF WIND ENERGY RESOURCES.

A brief historical report is presented on the development of Soviet wind power engineering. The wind energy resources of the Soviet Union in the three zones with the highest wind energy potential are evaluated. Design proposals for a 5 MW wind generator and a multi-rotor wind generator to 40 MW are examined, with a proposal for their use as a basis for creation of a system with capacity to 1000 MW as the first stage of utilization of wind eenrgy resources for electric power purposes. Certain information is presented on the national wind power programs of foreign countries.
