SOME ASPECTS OF THE ANNEALING OF LOW CARBON STRIP STEEL.

An important factor in the use of low carbon steel for applications such as autobody fabrication is its formability, which depends to a great extent on the development of a suitable texture during the cold rolling and annealing process. This article considers the metallurgical factors which contribute towards a high degree of formability in batch annealed rimming and aluminum killed steels. The author subsequently describes how the processing and metallurgical requirements differ for the successful development of suitable forming properties using continuous annealing.
