The possibility of measuring the excess oxidizer ratio in the alpha less than equivalent to 1 region in the combustion products of an MHD generator is considered. A simple relation between the emf of the electrochemical sensor and the excess oxidizer ratio at alpha less than 1, with oxygen enrichment of the oxidizer up to 40% and the presence of an ionizing additive, is derived. The method of experimental verification of three types of models and possible diagrams of connection of electrochemical sensors, developed and tested on the U-25 plant with an MHD generator, are described. Test results are presented and a comparative characteristic is given.
