摘要
Cold rolling oils all consist of organic compounds and change in chemical composition with the progress of rolling. Analysis of this change in chemical composition is thus considered to be one approach to the clarification of the lubricating functions of the rolling oil. Using such analytical methods as HPLC, GPC, GC, IR and GS/MS, free fatty acids and iron soap-forming fatty acids, which occur as reaction products of the rolling oil, were investigated for their carbon number and were checked to see if they were saturated or unsaturated acids. Decomposition products of phosphate ester, one of the additives in the rolling oil, and phosphoric acid were analyzed for their behavior during the rolling process. Chemical changes of the rolling oil on the strip surface, which are closely related to the strip surface cleanliness, were also studied.
