Ultrasonic brazing, such as the Alcoa-571-Process, is based on ultrasonic cavitation. The mechanism of acoustic cavitation, methods of generating ultrasonic vibrations (piezoelectric or magnetostrictive excitation), the mechanical prerequisites for ultrasonic brazing, and the importance of the correct immersion depth are discussed.
