DIFFUSION COEFFICIENTS OF SODIUM ATOMS AND IONS IN INERT GASES.

The transport cross sections and diffusion coefficients of sodium atoms and ions in inert gases are calculated from the known interaction potentials, and the mobility of sodium ions is determined. The calculations are carried out for temperatures in the range 300-3000 K. The accuracy of the interaction potentials for sodium atoms and ions with inert gases used in the calculation can be estimated by comparing the calculated values with the experimentally measured diffusion coefficients and mobilities.
