摘要：
Driling and tapping are two of the most commonly used, and abused, specific methods of metal removal. These operations may be performed on the most critical of work, for example in precision instrument making, or in heavy engineering on castings or fabrications weighting several hundred tons. The article points out the features of specific tools and recommends that designers utilize whatever possible standard catalogue items. Among the points covered are drill types, specifying drills, tap use and applications.
