The influence of Al//2O//3 on the quality of continuously cast slabs for low-carbon aluminum-killed steel for cold-rolled sheet production and some related operational problems are discussed. The use of argon to seal the ladle-to-tundish jet and its injection by a monolithic stopper rod to reduce the reoxidation, to decrease the Al//2O//3 accumulation in the submerged nozzle, and to increase the flotation of inclusion in the mold, are analyzed.
