An extreme character of relation between the hot strength and FeO content of a sinter is experimentally detected. As regards the Khuta Kotovitse works, an optimum is within 8-9 % FeO. The sinters feature a maximum hot strength, rather high reducibility and low swelling. In going to lower oxide sinter, a 55 % increase in the blast and furnace output has been reached under constant differential pressure across a tuyere and furnace top. The data obtained may be used with no significant corrections by sintering and blast-furnace plants where similar compositions are melted from Krivoy Rog ores and concentrates.
