This paper discusses the creep and creep rupture properties of polyethersulphone developed by ICI which is tough under impact at temperatures as low as minus 80C and has good resistance to creep at plus 150C. The creep experiments were carried out in accordance with test classification A of BS4618: Subsection 1. 1. 1:1970, ″Creep in Uniaxial Tension and Compression (With Particular Reference to Solid Plastics)″ using apparatus developed by Mills and Turner. The creep rupture experiments were carried out in the manner described by Gotham on waisted specimens with no parallel-sided section and on parallel-sided specimens notched on both edges. Experimental data plotted in curves are discussed in terms of engineering considerations.
