The effect of structure on the delayed fracture strength of low alloy high strength steel in moist atmosphere was investigated on 0. 36C-1. 5Cr-0. 5Mo-0. 17V steel in two structural states; viz, with a bainitic structure obtained by isothermal transformation, with and without subsequent tempering. The results are explained in terms of the effects of differences in the precipitation behavior of carbides along the austenitic grain boundaries.
