摘要:
This is the last in a series of articles presenting six microcomputer programs for various U-value calculations. This program deals with occupancy gains. So far the author has only calculated heat losses from unoccupied dwellings and other premises. It is now necessary to take into account the heat losses and heat gains engendered by the occupants. But occupation of dwellings does not only cause additional heat losses. Heat gains are also experienced. To start off with, people use lights and electrical machinery, and gas appliances such as gas cookers, gas hot water heaters etc also provide extra heat. People themselves produce heat. According to the First Law of Thermodynamics the heat output of a human being is exactly equal to the calorific value of the food which is eaten. In fact, as the results from the program LIVING show, human beings contribute an inordinate amount of heat to a dwelling.
