摘要
There is a need for further standardization of powering of equipment in the access portion of the telecommunications network, particularly for distributed equipment such as optical terminations for fiber-to-the-curb. This paper gives an overview of recent standardization activities in various standards bodies, and proposes the definition of a limited number of power feeding interfaces, with the overall objective of enabling interconnection of power sources and power consuming equipment designed and manufactured independently. In addition to the power interface itself, a brief discussion of monitoring and control requirements is included.
