Extrusion casting-sintering reaction, A new technology for Al2O3/TixAly composite materials preparations

TiO2 powder and pure aluminum were adopted as raw materials, a new method of preparing the composite materials by high temperature reaction was investigated. Firstly TiO2 powder was extruded into a prefabricated block in a die with hydrostatic pressing, then heated to predetermined temperature, pulling the molten pure aluminum (99.5%) and pressurizing the liquid aluminum permeate into the TiO2 block. Finally, the cast block was sintered at 810°C for 1h. The said new technology is simple and effective. The Al2O3/TixAly composite materials prepared by this new technology have good properties.
