Pretreated wire rod containing 0. 45-0. 5% C has been drawn in six steps from 5. 5 to 2 mm diameter. The drawing speed ranged between 1 and 12 m/sec. The friction coefficient/average surface pressure curve is the assessment criterion for a drawing lubricant.
