摘要
The authors consider the problem of dynamically assigning addresses to stations attached to a broadcast network. They present a distributed protocol that guarantees that a new station will eventually be assigned an address if one is free and, furthermore, that no two stations on the network will have the same address. They show how the protocol can be simplified in certain specific environments.
